Rainforest Hanging Bridges And Cortes Waterfall

Heliconias Lodge

Located on the foothills of the Tenorio Volcano National Park; only 1.45 hours from the main hotels on the Papagayo Gulf, this private reserve is a community project run by local residents. It protects over 110 hectares (275 acres) of wet tropical forest.

Being part of the large Guanacaste volcanic range, this reserve is located between the division of the north Pacific lowlands with the north Atlantic lowlands. The result of this great location is an impressive mixture of plant and animal life from both areas. It is like there is a natural wall that limits the passing of Pacific species to the Atlantic and vice versa.

Cortés Waterfall

Only 40 minutes drive from Liberia we arrive to Llanos del Cortés Waterfall, this is an spectacular fall of 125 feet high approximately. The last 2 kms dirt road are surrounded by grasslands and dry forest, during the dry season this road turns dusty but with easy access, not the same for the wet season when the mud makes our trip a fun challenge towards the waterfall. This a real hidden oasis.
